THE CHALLENGE
Cadence Kitchen had been utilizing its revolutionary nitro-freezing process in the food service world for over 5 years and was ready to launch its tasty entrées and sides direct to consumers through major supermarkets. They faced two major hurdles: educating the consumer that not all frozen meals were created equal and demonstrating how their self-serve kiosks filled with visually appealing food contained healthy meals that only needed to be heated in a skillet for 10 minutes.
BRAVE IDEA
With fresh meal kits claiming to make mealtime easier and the frozen food aisle becoming a wasteland, they needed to figure out a way to truly help solve the “what’s for dinner” dilemma. Through simple and clear messaging across multiple touchpoints, the team crafted a campaign to get dinner off people's minds and onto their plates in just 10 minutes. They began by changing the name from Cadence Gourmet o Cadence Kitchen to bring to life the “from our kitchen to yours” messaging, as well as creating a new look and feel to brighten up the brand and showcase the wonderful entrées and sides they created. The creative messaging and imagery were seamlessly translated into an integrated campaign that included brand architecture, web development, digital and social media, email marketing, retailer support, and videos. By strategically leveraging this new way to get dinner on the table from the founders of Cadence Kitchen, the brand positioned itself to answer one question asked daily: “What’s for dinner?”
GREAT BUSINESS RESULTS
During the launch of the program, results proved overwhelmingly positive. Thorough “pitch” presentations were used at retailer headquarters during meetings to secure the placement of the kiosks in the produce sections or deli areas. As a result, Cadence Kitchen kiosks received placement in over 350 grocery locations within select Kroger, Albertsons, and ShopRite stores. In-store merchandising and trade marketing programs drove awareness. High-quality photography and videography were key in illustrating the ease of preparation at home. Cadence Kitchen saw great results with 33% higher than expected unit movement and sales doubling launch forecasts.
